As Emory community members start the spring semester, COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and other viruses remain prevalent.
Here’s what you need to know to start the new year:
To help limit transmission of COVID-19, Emory University strongly recommends all campus members conduct regular COVID-19 testing during the semester.
Atlanta campus students who are symptomatic can schedule testing with a provider visit through the Student Health Patient Portal. Oxford students who are symptomatic should call the Oxford Student Health office at 770-784-8376 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. to schedule a test. For after hours and weekends, call 404-727-7551 and press “0” for the medical advice nurse.
If you test positive for COVID-19 on or off campus, isolate in place immediately and follow all instructions on Emory Forward’s What do I do if? page. You will be directed to complete a COVID-19 reporting form and will receive isolation procedures based your individual circumstances. Please follow this self-guided process and complete all directions until your isolation period has ended.
Vaccination remains the most important tool in our fight against COVID-19. Emory University requires all students, faculty and staff to be vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19, with certain exceptions allowed. Visit the Vaccine page on Emory Forward for more information on how to get vaccinated.
Remember to get your flu shot too! It’s not too late to get your flu shot to help protect you this season. Flu shots can be scheduled through Student Health Services or be found at your local pharmacy or health care provider.
