CLEVELAND, Ohio — The number of new COVID-19 cases in Ohio rose slightly from 13,047 last week to 13,895 this week.
Ohio has been over 10,000 cases per week every week, except for brief dips, since the beginning of May. Weekly case numbers dipped below 10,000, most recently for two weeks in October.
While cases have slightly increased in the last week, the number of COVID-19 patients in Ohio hospitals has stayed steady at over 1,300 patients per day for the previous seven days. The number of hospitalizations was in the 700s in early October.
This week’s case total averages about 1,985 cases per day over seven days.
The total number of reported COVID-19 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic is 41,033, after 105 more people were reported dead in the last week.
The total COVID-19 case count since early 2020 has now reached 3,321,463.
A total of 7,492,804 Ohioans have received at least one vaccination, representing about 68.1% of Ohioans aged 5 and up.
Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 25,955 deaths among people reported as not fully vaccinated and 1,457 among those reported to be fully vaccinated. And there have been 84,057 hospitalized Ohioans who were not vaccinated and 6,276 fully vaccinated people hospitalized.
The state does not report for COVID-19 cases whether people were vaccinated.
