As UMass Lowell prepares for the start of a new semester, please keep in mind steps that each of us can take to limit the impact of COVID-19 as well as other respiratory disease on campus.

Symptom Self-Check

All members of the campus community should continue to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and other like upper respiratory illness before leaving their homes, apartments or residence halls. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you should plan to stay home and limit contact with others while feeling unwell. Students missing class should contact their faculty member in advance.

Face Coverings

While only required on campus within the Wellness Center, it is strongly recommended that all UMass Lowell community members wear a face covering in crowded public spaces due to high levels of COVID, flu, RSV and other respiratory illnesses within Massachusetts. Wearing a mask in common areas such as meeting spaces, classrooms, libraries and dining halls (when not eating) will help protect the health of others.

Vaccinations

UMass Lowell strongly encourages members of our campus community to receive the most up-to-date COVID-19 booster for which they are eligible, as well as getting a flu shot.

Testing
Free COVID-19 tests are available to all via the federal government. Keeping a supply on hand helps you protect others so you can respond to your status if positive.

If you do test positive, please follow the most up-to-date CDC isolation guidance. Students testing positive should contact the Symptom Reporting Line —978-934-2682 or Student_SymptomReporting@uml.edu — to talk to a health care professional. If you need to leave a message or use the email contact method please make sure to provide your phone number along with your student ID in the message. Please stay at home (or in your room if you live on campus) until you speak to a Health Services staff member.

Thank you in advance for doing your part to keep our community healthy.
