Warning issued as drug dealers disguise edible cannabis as Christmas chocolate favourites

Police have seized edible cannabis that drug dealers had disguised as Christmas chocolates.

The drug-laced sweets were made to look like festive chocolate favourites such as Quality Streets, Celebrations and Aero Minis.

But instead, they were called ‘Quality Heat’, ‘Calibrations’ and ‘Ammo Minis’.

West Yorkshire Police officers found the drugs after they stopped and searched a vehicle on December 17.

The driver of the vehicle was reported for summons for possession of drugs.

A police spokesperson said: ‘Please be vigilant if you see these, they can contain dangerous amounts of THC and people sometimes do not realise the danger of consuming these items.’

In March this year police seized £300,000 worth of edible cannabis that gang members disguised as sweets to target children. 

The sweets, which look like Dairy Milk and Milky Bar chocolates were laced with drugs and were seized during a bust in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

Detective Superintendent Fiona Gaffney said: ‘County Lines and the organised crime linked to it has a significant impact on the people of West Yorkshire and the communities we serve. 

‘It’s linked to violence and the exploitation of many vulnerable people,’ according to Coventry Live.

Aslo this week police were left stunned after seizing cannabis plants worth hundreds of thousands of pounds that looked like wrapped up like Christmas trees.

Officers uncovered the huge cannabis factory at a disused property in the town centre of Nuneaton, Warwickshire, on Monday.

They recovered hundreds of plants, many of which were lined up in rows and tied up like Christmas trees, believed to hold a value of a six figure sum.

The police were alerted to the issue after becoming suspicious at the large amount of heat that was generating from the property

Two people were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and were taken into custody for questioning.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Police shared pictures of the festive-looking grow on Facebook and wrote ‘Officers from Nuneaton SNT located a large cannabis grow near Nuneaton town centre.

‘There was a substantial heat source coming from the premise which appeared to be disused.

‘Officers utilised police powers to force entry arresting two suspects for cultivation of cannabis.

‘This resulted in hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of cannabis being taken off the streets and removing a significant safety concern for neighbouring properties.’
