As the peak of the holiday season approaches, local doctors are warning that the pandemic isn’t over. The executive director of the Michigan Association for Local Public Health, Norm Hess, told reporters things have settled down this year thanks to more vaccinations and therapeutics. But he also said it’s too soon to say COVID-19 is seasonal like the flu.
“While there are some similarities to the seasonal ebb and flow, we are not really thinking of it in the same way as influenza.”
Hess says due to higher cases of the flu and COVID-19, people may be spending a longer time in local emergency rooms.
