  • The FEC website listed a Mike Pence for President campaign filing
  • But a spokesman for the former VP says he didn’t file it

‘Former Vice President Mike Pence did not file to run for President today,’ tweeted Devin O’Malley following a report that he made an official filing, with a link to the Federal Election Commission’s web page.

That page appeared to show the creation of a Mike Pence for President committee, with apparently signed paperwork dated December 26.

That would be an unexpected move, given that Pence has been avoiding formal commitment to a race even while taking a series of public appearances and steps consistent with a run – including promoting a book and trying to the matter of his fraught final days with Donald Trump behind him.

Trump himself, who would be a chief primary rival for a potential Pence run, has continued to keep himself in the headlines, claiming the border is getting worse, while the House January 6 Committee released transcripts that detail his moves during his last weeks in office.
